St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hafnarfjörður recently purchased an OmniDiagnost Eleva X-ray system from PHILIPS Medical Systems. The system is presently being installed and will be operational in August.

The OmniDiagnost Eleva is a multifunctional remote control X-ray system which can be controlled from any location in the examination or control room. The system is designed to provide versatility in investigational procedures and to fulfil the strictest requirements concerning quality of the examinations. Eleva is quick-acting, it ensures rapid digital image processing and confident diagnoses. Eleva offers the highest image quality at the lowest possible radiation dose - thus increasing patient and operator safety.

Eleva comprises unique technology which enables exam-, operator- and patient-related presets to be programmed to each user’s preferences, increasing efficiency and reducing potential operator error.
The X-ray beam moves around the patients; which is an asset, because the patient can then lie on a comfortable and convex table while the beam does its work.
Eleva is accessible from both the left or right side which makes it user-friendly and safe for the patient.

Examinations of the gastrointestinal tract are, among other things, performed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and this equipment is very suitable for such procedures, as it is possible to tilt the table +90/-90 degrees and perform fluoroscopy.

Together with the Eleva system, we are installing a Bucky VT stand and X-ray beam on a ceiling trolley, used for chest and small bone examinations.

This equipment will be used with the Agfa CR 25 image plate system and CS 5000 workstation.

As well as being the agent for Philips Medical Systems, Vistor hf., is also the agent for Agfa Healthcare. Vistor and St. Joseph’s hospital have enjoyed excellent co-operation while working on this extensive project for the renewal of equipment in their X-ray Department.
